Located in the forest, far away from everyday life and with poor mobile phone reception, the Limes Schlossklinik offers teenagers and young adults an ideal place to reorient themselves.
The property is picturesquely situated on Lake Abtsee in Upper Bavaria, whose water surface changes between razor-sharp reflections and soft watercolours depending on the light and time of day.
The ensemble includes buildings from various eras, some of which were designed by Lorenz Gedon, Ludwig II’s favourite architect. The listed castle houses the public areas: restaurant, fireplace lounge, club room, studio, and sports and physiotherapy rooms – all with views of the lake and access to spacious terraces. The patient rooms are located on the upper floors.
The interior combines inspiration from the landscape with echoes of the young Sissi: bright, light and inviting. Custom-made features such as the deconstructed tile portrait above the fireplace and curtain rails that create cosy retreats add modern accents to the historic rooms.
The guest rooms in the Rosenhaus take up the theme of the castle garden: stucco roses adorn each bed, and wallpaper opens up the view to a pergola entwined with vines. The bathrooms are also individually designed – with natural and landscape motifs that look as if they have grown over time.
