One family House, CologneThe existing house from the 1960's, has already had several conversions and rebuild behind it. However, it neither gave the required openness nor brightness. To gain more living space an existing single storey extension was extended upwards by one floor and the complete garden facade was opened up and complemented by an extension. On the north side of the house the monopitch roof was removed, the facade in the area of the stairs was cut open, the tight stairway raised and given a glass roof, brightening up the whole area with the glass covering. The complete ground plan was adapted for the needs of a family of four. The large family bathroom for example is equipped with a double shower unit and a built in laundry shaft from the first floor down into the wash room in the cellar.
